Don’t fight the pain, RELAX through the pain — In today’s episode of Weightlifting Academy!
I told you that I want you to be Less #Bestmode & More #ZenMode. Learning how to accept discomfort, pain, and hardship is a skill that CAN and SHOULD be trained. It is even more important than your physical training — because the level of physical training you are capable of handling is directly related to your mental strength.
Try this Fasting Meditation Drill:
The rules are that when you feel hunger creeping up, and you want to eat, stop. Set a timer for 30 minutes. Don’t eat during that time. Done! Afterwards, if you want to eat Thanksgiving dinner, go ahead! (This isn’t a “diet” drill, it’s about your brain.)
The point is to be RELAXED while you are going through the 30 minutes. No more fighting through the pain. That’s a cop-out. You want to learn how to feel pain and yet not give a shit about it. THAT is the kind of strength that pays off big-time in the gym and in your life.
If you want to start the timer over, and go for another round, then you can. But you don’t have to. Enduring just one 30-minute round of hunger endurance is a success. Do this daily. Work up to doing it for every meal.
