Need More Thoracic Extension? How to do a Swan Pull — In Today’s Episode of Weightlifting Academy!
This variation of a Swan Pull can be used to increase both your T-spine mobility AND to help strengthen your upper back at the same time. Olympic weightlifters have no choice but to work very hard on their thoracic spine mobility and flexibility.
In a previous video on the T-Spine Snatch Drill, I talked about how important thoracic extension is for saving your lower back. But, I also mentioned that in order to do that drill, you will need to have already worked on your mobility in the t-spine area.
This drill is a great place to work that t-spine mobility, and you get the added bonus of building strength at the same time.
